Thirty-four brave men of the USS Liberty gave their lives on June 8, 1967, when their ship was attacked while performing its duty in international waters. These sailors—officers and enlisted—were fathers, sons, and shipmates whose courage under fire exemplified the highest traditions of service. They faced overwhelming violence to protect their ship and crewmates; their sacrifice saved lives and left an indelible mark on the survivors and the nation. The USS Liberty Veterans Association honors these 34 fallen by preserving their names, telling the truth of what happened, and ensuring their memory guides our commitment to justice, accountability, and remembrance for generations to come. We will never forget their service and sacrifice.
